TRYOUT FAQs

Why should I attend Golden Goal’s Professional Tryout?

There are many benefits of attending our tryouts, some of those are:

1. Get offered a club trial

2. Get invited to Professional Showcase Tour to Europe (Men’s only)

3. Earn representation by our licensed agents

4. Find out if you are ready for the professional level in Europe

How many players will be at each tryout?

Our tryouts on average have about 40 players.

Is there a deadline to register for a tryout?

There is no deadline for any of our tryouts, but spots are limited. Players are taken on a first come first serve basis. We do recommend registering at least 3-4 weeks prior to the tryout to avoid the event being sold out. Registration must be completed online and paid via credit card.

What is the tryout format?

On day 1 - training and testing sessions.

On day 2 - full-sided 11v11 games observed and coached by professional coaching staff.

Which soccer professionals will attend the event?

Our staff is deeply connected within the soccer industry and since our agency was established, we have worked with major clubs and professional leagues around the world. Our staff members are English FA registered, FIFA licensed agents and USSF registered intermediaries. We usually have 3-6 soccer professionals attending each of our showcase events.

What is included in the $295 registration fee?

Registration fee covers your participation in the showcase tryout session and event t-shirt. All players are responsible for their own food, travel, transportation, and accommodations during our 2 day tryouts.

Is the registration fee refundable?

The registration fee is Non-Refundable. If you register for the event and are unable to attend due to emergency, school, injury, etc we will apply it as a credit to any of our other tryout dates. Credits are exclusive to their event type and are not transferable to other services or any other person. Credits are valid for one year. If you fail to notify us and just do not show up, you will forfeit your tryout entry fee and will not receive a credit for future events. We need to be notified at least 3 days before the event.

How much playing time will I get?

Players are all guaranteed 2 x 30 minutes in 11v11 games, as well as 180 minutes of testing and small group training session. Our aim is for players to play more than the minimum 2 x 30 minutes and we regularly achieve that.

Which tests will we do?

You will do multiple tests that will show European Showcase soccer professionals your athletic abilities, your soccer skills and your shape.

These tests will include but are not limited to:

- 10m sprint

- 20m sprint

- 30m sprint

- Long jump

- Beep test

Will I play at my preferred position?

Our aim is for players to play at their preferred position for the entire duration of the tryout however it is not always possible. It is possible that a coach will like to see you in a new position and you must be willing and ready to adapt to coaches’ decision.

What are the professional clubs looking for?

Professional clubs are looking for players who have athletic, technical and tactical ability to play at the professional level. They are also looking for players who display professional attitude on and off the field, who are leaders, who are team players and who are coachable. Players have to be in great shape, and we recommend that you start training for the showcase at least 6-8 weeks before the event.

What do we need to bring to the tryout?

All players will be provided with a numbered event t-shirt at check in.  This shirt must be worn to every tryout session, because it helps us to identify you.  We will provide soccer balls for all sessions, players are not to bring their own soccer balls to the tryout events. Players have to wear black shorts and bring cleats, running shoes, shin-guards, tape, etc. We will provide bottled water for each showcase session.

What if tryout gets cancelled due to bad weather?

For tryouts held outside - if both days of a tryout are cancelled due to inclement weather, you will get a credit to attend a future tryout. European Showcase is not responsible for any travel costs or expenses incurred by weather cancelations. If only one day of a tryout is cancelled due to inclement weather, then the event will be deemed as operational and no credit will be issued to any player. We will try to make up for some or all time on the day that is not cancelled.
